(General) How do I get the software?

As of 20 Dec 2024, a complimentary copy of Prairie Sky Consulting software will be made available to named users who (1) purchase a physical copy of the User's Manual for that software, (2) agree to EULA and Privacy Policy Terms and Conditions, (3) and provide a valid proof-of-purchase Registration Form. (You may have to allow .xlsx downloading in your browser)

(General) Why can't I buy the software?

The return to a "publication model" was needed due to post Brexit UK VAT regulations that put undo administrative burden on small businesses outside the UK. In addition, EU GDPR requires products sold in the EU have a named EU representative. As the cost of implementing these regulations far exceeds the benefit of directly selling software in the UK and EU, therefore we have returned to the original "publication model" first adopted in 2023.

(General) Where can I purchase User's Manuals?

User's Manuals may only be purchased through the print-on-demand service www.lulu.com.

One Manual must be purchased for each user who requests a complimentary copy of the associated software.

(General) How can I provide proof of purchase

After your User's Manual purchase, complete the proof-of-purchase Registration Form to apply for your one complimentary copy of the associated title for each user.

(General) Can I make a return?

The print-on-demand service www.lulu.com does not allow returns.

(General) Can I reassign or add users?

User registrations may not be transferred. Each user must have their own physical copy of the User's Manual.

(General) Will it run on my computer?

Most likely yes. The COBie software was developed for and has been successfully tested on Windows 11 computers. Limited testing on Apple OS has been successful when using a Windows emulator.

(General) Does this software use Java?

No. Java is not used in this software. Full software configuration information is provided the Information Assurance chapter of each User's Manual.

(Purchase) Can I get an educational or trial license?

Perhaps. Educational licenses are provided to students in University of Florida’s COBie Academy. Trial versions are not available.

(Purchase) Are invoices or other procurement paperwork provided?

No. The receipt provided by the automated store is the only record of your purchase. Prairie Sky Consulting does not provide supplemental purchase documentation.

(Use) How is the software delivered?

Information regarding software delivery is provided in the EULA and Privacy Policy.

(Use) How is the software configured and installed?

Instructions for software configuration and installation are provided in each User's Manual.

(Use) Is an internet connection required?

Yes. Every time the software starts, a user's license is checked against the list of registered users. There is no transmission of project data to the internet.

(Use) How long can I use the software?

12 months following the acceptance of the proof-of-purchase Registration Form.

(Support) Is Technical Support provided?

No. Per EULA, technical support is not provided for the evaluation, configuration, installation, and/or use of any PSC software.

Non-project specific COBie standard questions may be posted to the public (but moderated) COBie LinkedIn Group. PSC software users may discuss their experiences and best practices on the private COBie Software LinkedIn Group.
